The Kerala government has announced that it will publish supplementary textbooks for the 11th and 12th grades, which will include the material that was previously removed by the NCERT. The NCERT's decision to remove critical content from various subjects has been met with widespread criticism. The textbooks will be released on August 23rd by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan during a ceremony at a government school.

The omission of some concepts from the NCERT textbooks for classes 11 and 12 would have no impact on Kerala, as the state utilises its own textbooks up to the 10th grade. However, large chunks of these higher-level textbooks have been omitted. The state is vehemently opposed to this move, especially in humanities areas like history, sociology, and political science.
"Textbooks should be renewed with time, but no changes can be made to the country's history or constitutional values," said State General Education Minister V Sivankutty. He further stated that Kerala will continue to oppose any such moves in the future as well.
