Karnataka to Held 3 Annual Board Exams For Class 10 and Pre-University Students
The Karnataka government has made a significant adjustment by deciding to organize three annual board exams for Class 10 and 2nd pre-university students. These students will be able to select the top scores that will appear on their scorecards.
This was announced by Madhu Bangarappa, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, on Tuesday during a government celebration of Teachers Day.
According to the government, the new exam method, which will be in use this academic year, would lessen student stress. Currently, there is a primary annual exam and a secondary exam. The idea of a supplemental exam will no longer exist under the new system.

Exams 1, 2, and 3 will be administered by the Karnataka School Examination & Assessment Board (KSEAB). The purpose of this action is to raise student performance.
A student will be given a second and third chance to retake the exam if he/ she is not happy with the first exam results. For instance, if a student receives a score of 50 in one topic but wants to raise it, he/ she can only take examinations 2 or 3 in that subject.
"This is basically an opportunity for students to improve their performance. The word supplementary itself was negative. Hence, we removed it, " Principal Secretary (School Education & Literacy) Ritesh Kumar Singh said.
Regular students must take the first exam according to the schedule by the Government.
The best grades from all three tests will be taken into account when giving the final grade card, even if a student writes different subjects in various exams. The number of attempts will not be noted on the marks card.
The KSEAB claims that the current system makes students feel nervous and anxious. It also highlighted the fact that under the current system, students are unable to select their top results.
"If a student who has passed the II PU examination is not satisfied with the marks obtained in any subject, there is an option to reject the marks obtained in that subject in the annual examination and take up the examination once again. But the marks obtained in the supplementary examination are only considered as the final marks...this system is not student-friendly," the KSEAB explained.
The National Curriculum Framework (NCF) of the union government, which recommends the introduction of two annual exams, is one step behind Karnataka's change.
