In an unprecedented move, the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has implemented an inflexible dress code to curb exam malpractice. The authority has gone a step ahead to ban head coverings, including Hijabs, in the examination centres. The aim is to prevent cheating and uphold the integrity of the academic systems in the state.

The new code of conduct by KEA, explicitly mentions the banning of scarves, caps, and even Hijabs under its stringent dress code policy. This move has been taken to ensure a fair and transparent examination system, free of any malpractices. As per the new rules, candidates can be barred from entering the examination hall if they are found violating the dress code.
While the measure has been taken to eradicate cheating, it has also sparked a wave of discomfort among students, especially those who wear head coverings for religious reasons. Students and parents alike are requesting the authority to reconsider the ban on head coverings, stating that it infringes upon the religious rights of the candidates.
