The Karnataka government is set to recruit 650 assistant professors and 1,200 nurses as directed by Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil. This recruitment drive aims to fill vacancies in 33 government institutions, including 22 medical colleges and 11 super-speciality hospitals across the state.

These positions will be filled through competitive exams conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Minister Patil emphasized the importance of conducting these exams transparently to ensure fair selection during a meeting with department officials.
To facilitate KEA's role in conducting these exams, the department's recruitment bylaws will be amended. This step is expected to streamline the hiring process and ensure that qualified candidates are selected for these crucial roles.
Minister Patil stated, "The department's recruitment bylaws would be amended to pave the way for KEA to conduct tests for these vacant posts." This amendment is seen as a significant move towards improving the efficiency of the recruitment process.
By filling these positions, the government aims to address staff shortages in medical education and healthcare facilities. The addition of new assistant professors and nurses is expected to enhance the quality of education and patient care in these institutions.
This initiative reflects the government's commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure and ensuring that medical colleges and hospitals are adequately staffed. The recruitment drive is a crucial step towards achieving this goal.
