On Wednesday, Karnataka witnessed a notable surge of over 75 percent in fresh COVID-19 infections, totaling 260 cases. The state reported one virus-related death, consistent with the previous day, and registered a positivity rate of 3.46 percent, compared to yesterday's 2.02 percent.

Among the 260 new cases, Bengaluru, the state capital, accounted for 134 cases, contributing to the city's total of 624 active cases, as per health department data. With 228 recoveries, Karnataka's active caseload slightly increased to 1,175. The total Covid tally for the state reached 40.91 lakhs.
In other districts of Karnataka:
- Mysuru reported 24 cases.
- Bengaluru Rural recorded 20 cases.
- Shivamogga reported 11 cases.
- Dakshina Kannada and Dharwad each reported nine cases.
- Mandya and Ramanagara had eight and seven fresh cases, respectively.
- Tumakuru recorded six cases.
- Bagalkote, Chamarajanagar, Chikkaballapura, and Uttara Kannada reported four new infections.
- Davanagere and Vijayanagar each had three cases.
- Ballari, Chitradurga, and Hassan reported two cases each.
- Nine districts had no new cases.
- The single death recorded on Wednesday was from Koppala district.
In line with the health department's goal of conducting 5,000 tests daily, testing has been intensified in the last two days. A total of 7,497 samples were tested in the state, including 6,621 RT-PCR tests and 876 Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs).
Of the 1,175 active cases in the state, 1,107 were isolated at home, while 68 were hospitalized. Among these patients, 45 were in general wards, two on oxygen support, and 21 in the ICU, with four on ventilator support.
