Karnataka: All Students Of Higher Education Institutes To Be Vaccinated By July 7

The students enrolled in polytechnics, ITI, engineering, medicine, degree, paramedical, and diploma programmes, as well as those enrolled in the Chief Minister's skill development scheme will be vaccinated.

Karnataka government has set a July 7 deadline for all college students in the state to be vaccinated and has requested Vice-Chancellors of higher educational institutions to expedite the procedure, according to Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan.

Earlier, Narayan had stated that to reduce the possibility of Covid-19 spread among the students during the second wave, the Karnataka government has decided to vaccinate all the students of higher educational institutes within 10 days.

According to an announcement from the DCM's office, the students enrolled in polytechnics, ITI, engineering, medicine, degree, paramedical, and diploma programmes, as well as those enrolled in the Chief Minister's skill development scheme will be vaccinated.

The Karnataka government has taken the step of vaccinating all the college and university students in the state in order to prevent the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic in the state. For the same reason, the state's capability for producing oxygen will be increased.

Reopening Of Karnataka Schools And Colleges

People are speculating that since vaccination rates for higher education students have increased, Karnataka's colleges and universities may reopen soon, however, no official announcement has been made regarding this by the state government.

When the number of Covid-19 cases in Karnataka increased in March, schools, and colleges in the state were forced to close once more. There has been no notice issued on the reopening of the physical classes in the state as of yet.

Since the pandemic began in March 2020, all academic activities, including normal classes and assignment submissions, have been moved online. Many universities have also held their semester exams in an online proctored format.

The government began the vaccination drive for the students of higher education on June 28, 2021, and 94,000 students were vaccinated on the first day, stated Narayan.
