After weeks of relentless heat, Bengaluru and several other districts in Karnataka are set to receive much-needed rainfall. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted showers starting from March 23, promising respite from the sweltering temperatures. A total of 12 districts, including Bengaluru, are expected to experience a significant weather shift, bringing relief to residents struggling with the recent heatwave.

Bengaluru has been grappling with high temperatures and humidity, making daily life uncomfortable for many. The city has witnessed scorching days, with temperatures hovering around 32-33 degrees Celsius. However, the upcoming rainfall is anticipated to provide much-needed relief, gradually lowering the mercury levels. Before the showers arrive, intermittent cloud cover is expected to provide some temporary relief from direct sunlight.
Some regions, including MM Hills, HD Kote, Bandipur, Saragur, Hunsur, and Maddur, have already witnessed sporadic showers, indicating the onset of a seasonal shift.
While southern Karnataka districts can expect some rainfall relief, several northern districts will continue experiencing dry and warm weather. Areas such as Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Bagalkot, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura, Yadgir, and Vijayanagar are expected to remain hot, with no immediate signs of rain.
With the IMD's latest prediction, Bengaluru residents can finally look forward to some relief from the oppressive heat. The shift in weather is expected to make daily life more comfortable while also benefiting the region's ecological balance. However, those in northern Karnataka may have to wait a bit longer before they experience similar relief.
