Himachal’s 50 Young Scholars Go Global: 11-Day Study Tour to Cambodia & Singapore Begins

In a remarkable initiative led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, fifty top-performing students from government schools in Himachal Pradesh have set out on an 11-day educational tour to Cambodia and Singapore. This prestigious opportunity, running until February 17, aims to provide students with exposure to international culture, history, and technological advancements.

Himachal’s 50 Young Scholars Go Global

Visionary Step in Education

Before their departure, Chief Minister Sukhu personally handed out tablets and travel kits, underscoring his belief in these students as India's future leaders. He shared inspiring anecdotes from his own life, encouraging them to dream big, work hard, and contribute towards India's development. His interaction served as a powerful motivational session, reinforcing the idea that education and determination can help them overcome any challenge.

Why Cambodia & Singapore?

The choice of Cambodia stems from its historical significance, including Angkor Wat, the world's largest Hindu temple, offering students a deep insight into ancient heritage and cultural ties. Singapore, on the other hand, represents a technological and economic powerhouse, providing inspiration for students to explore innovation and global competitiveness.

More Than Just a Tour: A Transformative Experience

This initiative is part of a larger vision to enhance global learning opportunities for students from government schools. Sukhu's government has already announced plans to expand the program, aiming to send 100 students abroad next year, including orphans adopted as 'Children of the State'. This commitment ensures that students from disadvantaged backgrounds receive comprehensive support in their academic and professional growth until the age of 27.

Prioritizing Educational Excellence

The Himachal government is revamping the education sector, introducing bold reforms and international collaborations. As part of these efforts, 200 teachers will soon be sent to Singapore for advanced training, equipping them with global best practices to improve the quality of education in the state.

Government's Commitment to Educational Progress

Education Minister Rohit Thakur highlighted the stark contrast between the previous administration's inefficiency and the current government's dedication to effective budget utilization. With over 95% of allocated funds efficiently utilized in just two years, the administration has also accelerated teacher recruitment drives, ensuring that all schools are fully staffed by March 31, 2024.

Students' Excitement & Gratitude

For many students, this journey is a dream come true. Smriti Jaryal from Chamba, one of the selected participants, expressed her immense gratitude, calling it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. This initiative not only enhances academic learning but also fosters cultural exchange and international awareness, shaping young minds for a brighter future.
