Free Textbooks For Classes 6 To 12 Students, Says Education Minister

The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had announced in a meeting that the students of Classes 6 to 12 will be provided free textbooks under some new policies. The meeting of the executive committee of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) which was held on February 25 was also attended by Sanjay Dhotre. In yesterday's meeting, the NVS executive committee discussed various topics related to education, provisions of free textbooks, tablets to students, and mobilising CSR funds for the improvement of hostels and schools.

In the 40th executive committee meeting of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, it has been decided that there will be a special recruitment drive for the northeast, Himalayan, and Jammu and Kashmir regions. Also, a new transfer policy will be implemented from next year and there will be a revision of recruitment rules for the engineering cadre.

It was also decided by the entire panel during the meet that the alumni Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti will be "requested" to adopt schools to make the education system more appropriate.

Dhotre also emphasised on the improvement of the schools' infrastructure on a priority basis. Talking about the educational ventures, he said that the safety and precautionary measures will continue after the COVID-19 pandemic.

He also explained the importance of spreading Digital education during the present scenario.
