The Department of Economics at the Central University of Tamil Nadu (CUTN) marked a celebrated one-year anniversary of its lending library at Neelakudi Panchayat School. Concurrently, an inaugural event took place at Neelakudi Panchayat School, commemorating the commencement of a 15-day Basic Skill Enhancement Programme meticulously designed to cultivate essential skills among the school children.
Prof. M. Krishnan, Vice Chancellor of CUTN, delivered presidential address, urging both students and faculty to amplify their outreach activities to encompass as many schools and villages as possible. Prof Krishnan highlighted the transformative potential inherent in such initiatives for societal advancement.

He took pride in highlighting CUTN as mini-India, boasting a richly diverse student and faculty population stretching from Kashmir to Kanyakumari. The Vice Chancellor lauded the initiative as an invaluable opportunity for students, faculty, and neighboring villages to explore diverse cultures and a spectrum of opportunities.
Prof R. Thirumurugan, Registrar at CUTN, commended the proactive students involved in training school students to read books and newspapers. He ardently encouraged a greater participation of students in similar initiatives, emphasizing the positive ripple effect on community development.

The Economics department students at CUTN have been diligently involved in a myriad of outreach initiatives, including the conducting skill development classes for various government school students. The lending library, initiated a year ago by CUTN, stands as a testament to the collective generosity of students and faculty who have donated a plethora of books.
Leading this impactful initiative is Professor N. Rajagopal and his dedicated team of faculty members, comprising Dr. K. Damodaran, Dr. P. Balamurugan, Dr. B. Balaji, Dr. T. K. Venkatachalapathy, Dr. Kappa Kondal, and Dr. Kuldeep Singh Nagi.
