Dr NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada had concluded the second round of medical courses EAMCET 2014 counselling on September 24, 2014. Around 4709 MBBS seats were filled in medical colleges across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
Recently, Supreme Court has directed six medical colleges in both AP and TS to restore the medical seats which had been disapproved. Around 550 MBBS seats will be restored in the following medical colleges
- Great Eastern Medical, Srikakulam
- Medicity Institute of Medical Sciences
- Malla Reddy Medical College, Hyderabad
- Katuri Medical College, Guntur and two minority colleges.
As the SC order, these colleges should add 550 MBBS seats and be made available for admission to students.
Due to lack of clarity in filling these seats, the colleges have once again approached the Supreme Court seeking guidelines in carrying out counselling for the seats that were made available at the last moment.
Dr NTR University of Health Science camp office, Dr Murali Mohan said that these colleges filed petition seeking guidelines to carry out the counselling for the added seats.
Mohan also said that both the state governments should approve for one more round of medical courses counselling to fill these seats. But, according to SC the admission process would end by September 30, 2014.
