Delhi Schools Reopen Partially For Students Of Classes 10, 12, Check New Guidelines

Delhi schools for students in classes 10 and 12 have been partially reopened from August 9. Delhi's schools will reopen under the COVID-19 guidelines and rules.

Schools in Delhi have been partially reopened from August 9 for students of classes 10 and 12. The students will be entitled to attend their school for admission-related work, counselling or advice, and practical activities for board exams, as per the rules issued by the Delhi government.

Delhi Schools Reopen: Check New Guidelines

This decision was made following a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), in which the Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia, stated that there has already been enough loss of education due to the shutdown of schools over the past year. The government has received more than 35,000 suggestions regarding the school reopening, he stated. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal, V K Paul, Randeep Guleria, ICMR Director General Balram Bhargava, Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, and other officials attended the DDMA meeting.

Schools in Delhi will reopen under rigorous COVID-19 norms and guidelines.

  • While on campus, students, teachers, parents, and other staff must wear masks and carry hand sanitizer.
  • Inside the classrooms, social distancing must be maintained. Failure to comply with this may result in a fine imposed by the authorities.
  • Students should be aware that they are only permitted to visit schools for practical classes and board-related work.
  • Parents' written consent will be required for visits to schools.
  • Students' attendance will not be recorded because classes will continue to be held online.

The Directorate of Education will shortly announce COVID-19 norms and guidelines to safeguard the safety of students and teachers. Meanwhile, the Delhi government has constituted an expert committee to make a decision on the school's reopening. The Government will make a decision on whether or not to reopen Delhi Schools on a full-fledged basis soon.
