CBSE ICSE Students Move Supreme Court: With just a few days to go for the Term I CBSE ICSE Exams scheduled this month, students belong to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) boards have moved the Supreme Court with a plea seeking conduct of CBSE ICSE Term I Examination in both, online as well as offline mode as against offline mode only, as suggested by the boards.
The plea filed by students stated, "Exams for major subjects in December 2021 are spread over three weeks, placing the petitioners in great apprehension on the risk of infection and the impact on subsequent exams. Preceding the exams for major subjects in December 2021 are the exams for Minor subjects in November 2021 in physical mode, further aggravating the likelihood of turning the exams for Major subjects into a Super Spreader Event," as reported by NDTV.
"At any rate, such continuous exposure through offline exams sharply increases the risk of infection to COVID 19 rendering the impugned action as arbitrary and in violation of Right to Health," the petition further stated adding that allowing online option will be beneficial, both to the students as well as to the boards in maintaining social distancing and addressing logistical constraints
The petitioners also alleged that consent of students over the mode of exam is being secured through misrepresentation and coercion without them being given a valid option, which is unfair, the plea stated.
The ICSE Class 10th and ISC Class 12th annual exams conducted by CISCE are slated to begin the Term 1 exam from November 15, while the Term I exams for minor papers conducted by CBSE will commence from November 16.
