The online registration dates for the Common Admission Test (CAT 2016) has been extended by the Indian Institutes of Management. This window for CAT 2016 registrations has been extended on requests from applicants.
The deadline for CAT registrations has been extended by 5 days; candidates can register till September 27, 2016. This year CAT 2016 is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
The extension of the deadline has been notified on the official website of CAT. "The primary reason for the extension is to facilitate applicants who are still in the process of completing their applications. There are many applicants in this stage and we have been getting many requests from them," said professor Rajendra K Bandi, convener of CAT 2016. According to reports on ET, the number applications received for CAT 2016 as of September 22, 2016 is 2.08 lakhs which is a decent increase from the last years 1.83 lakh applicaitions.
Last year for CAT 2015 registration dates were extended for 5 days which led to an additional 35,632 applications, giving a final registration number of 2,18,664.
CAT 2016 is scheduled to be held on December 4, 2016. CAT is held for selection of candidates for admissions into Indian Institutes of Management and other premier B-schools of the country.
