On Tuesday, Anurag Thakur, a senior BJP leader and former Union Minister, disclosed the second segment of the BJP's vision for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, encapsulated in their Sankalp Patra. The manifesto brims with notable initiatives aimed at transforming the educational and societal landscape of Delhi. Among the key promises is the provision of free education for underprivileged students across all levels, from kindergarten up to postgraduate studies, exclusively in government-run institutions.

The BJP's manifesto doesn't stop at free education. It further extends its support to students gearing up for significant competitive exams. Those preparing for the UPSC Civil Services and State PCS are promised financial assistance of Rs 15,000 for up to two attempts. This move is designed to ease the financial burden on aspiring candidates and ensure that economic constraints do not hinder their success.
In a similar vein, the manifesto introduces the Bhimrao Ambedkar Stipend Scheme, specifically targeted at students from the Scheduled Caste community. These students, when pursuing technical courses in ITIs and polytechnic skill centres, will benefit from a monthly stipend of Rs 1,000. This initiative underscores the party's commitment to fostering inclusivity and support for marginalized communities in the realm of education.
Further expanding its welfare agenda, the BJP has pledged to set up dedicated welfare boards for auto-taxi drivers and domestic workers, promising a comprehensive insurance package that includes Rs 10 lakh life insurance and Rs 5 lakh accident insurance for drivers. This proposal reflects a broader strategy to enhance social security and welfare for these vital yet often overlooked segments of the workforce.
Thakur also took this opportunity to critique the AAP government's shortcomings, particularly its failure to roll out the Jal Jeevan Mission effectively in Delhi. He reiterated the BJP's resolve to address these infrastructural and governance lapses, emphasizing the party's commitment to improving living conditions and services if elected. The formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the AAP government's alleged irregularities and scams was also announced, highlighting the BJP's stance on transparency and accountability.
Earlier, on January 17, JP Nadda, the Union Minister and national president of the BJP, had unveiled the first part of the manifesto. It spotlighted the continuation of existing welfare schemes and introduced new proposals, including a monthly pension scheme for senior citizens and financial aid for pregnant women under the Matru Suraksha Vandana scheme. These initiatives underscore the party's focus on social welfare and support for vulnerable groups.
Despite facing challenges in past Delhi Assembly elections, with the BJP last governing Delhi 27 years ago and having a limited presence in recent assemblies, the party is making a determined push for a comeback. With the elections scheduled for February 5 and results expected on February 8, the BJP's manifesto seeks to resonate with Delhi's electorate, promising a blend of welfare, education, and governance reforms aimed at transforming the capital's socio-economic landscape.
