Bangalore Bandh on Sep 11; Many Schools Declare Holiday on Monday

The Federation of Karnataka State Private Transport Association declared a "Bengaluru Bandh" on September 11, during which all private passenger cars, totaling over 32,000 private transporters, will be off the road. Because of this the parent's inboxes have started getting messages from the school administrations about tomorrow's holiday.

Bangalore Bandh on Sep 11

According to the most recent information, many schools including Delhi Public School and Vibgyor International have declared a holiday for Monday. The reason for this is that many students use private vans, and the private transportation group is on strike. The schools declared a holiday on Monday and said that they can't compromise with the security of the children.

The protest is in response to the Karnataka government's 'Shakti Scheme,' which was announced in June 2023. In Bengaluru, 32 transport unions, including those representing autorickshaws, buses, taxis, and cabs, have formed a unified federation and called for a strike. Nonetheless, this strike call is not the first of its type. They made a similar request in July in opposition to the Shakti scheme, which provides free fares for women in non-premium bus services provided by road transport corporations (RTCs).

The government's willingness to consider the 30 requests has been indicated by Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy, but the walkout is still set to take place. Private corporations sent safety cautions to employees who use public transport.

Many schools have chosen to offer online classes. AECS Magnolia has sent a telegraph message to parents informing them that online programmes are available through the fifth grade. Since higher-level exams are now underway, the mode has yet to be determined by the institution.

Exams have been rescheduled, however online classes will be available for the higher subjects as well. The material is based on what was shared on the Telegram group. Parents must obtain confirmation from the school regarding it. Similar decisions are being made at other schools too.

DPS not working

Delhi Public School has sent a message to the parents, that in the wake of the Bangalore Bandh called in by private transport vendors we are concerned about the safety and well-being of our school students.

School administration said that certain private van vendors have now refused to bring students to school. The message says, "The security of children is our top priority and we would not want them to be subject to any potential threats or disruptions caused by the protests. Hence as a measure to ensure the safety of our students, it is here by declared that the school will NOT be working tomorrow. It remains a study holiday as scheduled for grade 6 to 8."

Vibgyor School declared Holiday
