On Arunachal Pradesh's Statehood Day, Governor K T Parnaik emphasised the importance of education, infrastructure, and unity in overcoming challenges. He advocated for community efforts in environmental stewardship and tackling drug issues, while promoting e-governance to enhance public services.

On the 39th Statehood Day, celebrated in IG Park, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd) underscored the state's journey towards progress while highlighting the imperative to surmount existing challenges. Parnaik renewed the government's pledge to enhance infrastructure, digital connectivity, and public services, aiming to elevate the living standards of all residents. His speech encompassed a broad spectrum of issues from education and environmental conservation to tackling the drug menace and leveraging technology for governance.

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Calls For Unity And Progress

In an appeal for educational advancement, the governor emphasized the critical need to diminish dropout rates and ensure the completion of studies for all children. He argued that fostering a well-educated populace is essential for self-reliance, enabling the state to produce its own cadre of professionals such as teachers, engineers, and doctors, hence reducing reliance on other states. Parnaik advocated for a disciplined and dedicated student body, which he sees as pivotal to the state's developmental aspirations.

"Let's build bridges of understanding, embrace our diversity, and draw strength from unity. The choices we make today will resonate for generations. Let us choose wisely and act boldly for the success and harmony of our state," Parnaik stated, calling for unity and decisive action towards a prosperous future for Arunachal Pradesh. He stressed the importance of cultural heritage, education, and youth empowerment as key pillars for the state's advancement.

The governor also addressed the necessity of bolstering tourism through better infrastructure and hospitality services, urging locals to cultivate a welcoming environment for visitors. Highlighting advancements in infrastructure and the power sector, he noted the construction of over 4,000 km of roads, enhancing connectivity across the state. The Frontier Highway project, aimed at improving inter-valley connections, is advancing steadily. He proudly mentioned the state's significant power generation capacity, which stands at 58,000 MW, nearly 40% of India's total potential.

On environmental stewardship and cleanliness, Parnaik called for a collective mission-mode approach to waste management, from villages to urban centers. He advocated for systematic waste disposal and the use of technology to transform waste into energy and other useful products. The vision for Arunachal Pradesh, according to the governor, includes a landscape free from illegal structures and encroachments, complemented by a clean and orderly environment maintained through community efforts.

The growing drug problem was another critical issue addressed by Parnaik, who proposed a dual strategy of prevention and rehabilitation to counteract this menace. He highlighted the need for community vigilance against drug distribution networks and encouraged the use of satellite imagery to monitor illicit cultivation. Education, vigorous awareness campaigns, and engagement in sports and skills development for recovered individuals were among his recommendations to fight addiction. He envisioned reformed individuals serving as ambassadors to support others in rehabilitation.

In terms of governance, the governor advocated for the adoption of e-governance practices, automating data systems, and developing applications to monitor projects. These measures, he believes, will streamline administration, curb malpractices, and ensure efficient project management. Additionally, Parnaik shed light on the state's educational initiatives, including the construction of 30 higher secondary schools and the upgrading of 50 schools to Golden Jubilee Schools. The establishment of New Age Learning Centres and Eklavya Model Residential Schools, along with a Tribal Research Institute, are steps towards enhancing educational infrastructure.

In his concluding remarks, Parnaik called for transparency, accountability, and collective effort in pursuit of a thriving and harmonious Arunachal Pradesh. He underlined the significance of making wise choices today for a lasting impact on future generations, emphasizing the strength derived from unity and the rich cultural heritage of the state.
