AIPMT 2016 (NEET Phase-1): Paper Analysis

The All India Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Test (AIPMT), which is treated as first phase of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET), a common medical entrance exam was conducted on May 1, 2016.

The exam, comprised of 180 objective type questions were derived on the following subjects: Physics, chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology).

The examination was held for a duration of 3 hours i.e. 10 am to 1 pm. AIPMT is an annual medical entrance examination, conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Delhi to offer admissions to MBBS and BDS courses in several medical colleges across the country.

Physics: Above Average paper

Physics paper was above average and calculative. Questions were asked from NCERT. Out of the total question 40 percent were tough while 40 percent were medium and only 20 percent of the questions were easy. Few questions were repeated from the previous years' papers.

Chemistry: Difficult paper

Chemistry, the difficulty level of the questions was on the higher compared to previous year exam. Most of the questions were picked from the NCERT textbook. 1/3rd of the questions were derived from class 11 and the rest were from class 12.

The question paper had 2 questions, which had "two options" correct and in 1 question none of the options was correct.

Biology: Easy paper

Biology paper was relatively on the easier when compared to the last year's exam. The subject had more of less questions of average level. Questions from class 11 and class 12 were of same number.

There were also few questions, which were not covered from the NCERT textbook. One of the questions had wrong options as none of the options justified micronutrients (asked in the question). Maximum weightage of the questions were derived from from Cytology, Physiology, Genetics and Ecology.

AIPMT Answer Keys:

AIPMT answer keys will be available from May 24 to May 26. The results for the same will get be declared on June 5.
