The Joint Apex Board (JAB) has decided to use Aadhaar-based biometric attendance machines for attendance at the JEE main examination centres. Earlier, Aadhaar card has been made mandatory for the JEE main examination registrations.
In a bid to curb malpractices and impersonation in the JEE examinations, the JAB has come-up with the idea of putting the aadhaar based biometric system in place.
According to sources and reports on HT, the expenses to implement this shall be borne by the CBSE which conducts the JEE exams. CBSE shall source the expenses from the fee received from candidates during registration process.
However, states including Jammu and Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam have been granted relaxation from this mandatory rule of furnishing Aadhaar numbers.
In addition to the aadhar-based biometric system, CBSE will also ensure scanning the OMR sheets at the examination centres immediately after the test is over in the presence of officials under CCTV recording.
