5 Indian Schools Nominated for World's Best School Prizes

Five Indian schools have been shortlisted in various categories for the prestigious World's Best School Prizes, an annual event organized in the UK to celebrate schools making significant contributions to society. This recognition is part of a USD 50,000 prize fund, shared among the winners. The shortlisted schools include two from Madhya Pradesh and one each from Delhi, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.

Indian Schools Nominated for World's Best Schools

The World's Best School Prizes are awarded in five categories: Community Collaboration, Environmental Action, Innovation, Overcoming Adversity, and Supporting Healthy Lives. These awards, established by the UK-based T4 Education post-COVID, aim to highlight schools that are driving impactful changes within and beyond their classrooms.

Vikas Pota, the founder of T4 Education, praised the shortlisted Indian schools: "Indian schools like Government CM RISE Model HSS, Jhabua; Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj; G H S S Vinoba Ambedkar Nagar, Ratlam; Kalvi International Public School, Madurai; and Mumbai Public School L K Waghji International (IGCSE) show the difference that can be made to so many lives."

Shortlisted Schools and Their Contributions

  • Government CM RISE Model HSS, Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh:

Category: Supporting Healthy Lives
Contribution: Focuses on health education, nutritional meals, and community involvement to aid children from Scheduled Tribes.

  • Ryan International School, Vasant Kunj, Delhi:

Category: Environmental Action
Contribution: Tackles water scarcity and pollution through innovative projects like hydroponics and biogas plants.

  • G H S S Vinoba Ambedkar Nagar, Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh:

Category: Innovation
Contribution: Founded for tribal girls in an urban slum, the school is recognized for its innovative approach to public education.

  • Kalvi International Public School, Madurai, Tamil Nadu:

Category: Community Collaboration
Contribution: Empowers students from disadvantaged backgrounds through education and sports.

  • Mumbai Public School L K Waghji International (IGCSE), Maharashtra:

Category: Supporting Healthy Lives
Contribution: Promotes healthy lifestyles by reducing junk food consumption.

Selection and Awards

The winners will be chosen by an expert Judging Academy based on strict criteria. Additionally, all 50 shortlisted schools will participate in a public vote, which began last week. The top three finalists for each prize will be announced in September, with the winners revealed in November.

The USD 50,000 prize fund will be equally divided among the winners, with each receiving USD 10,000. The winner of the Community Choice Award, determined by public vote, will also gain membership to Best School to Work, a certification for schools based on their culture and working environment.
