What is Right to Education?

History of Right to Education Act

A rough version of the draft was first prepared in the year 2005, but due to some loops, it met with lot of criticism. It is mainly because of the large percentage of the reservation made mandatory across all schools for the underprivileged children. However, the Central Advisory Board Education, who were the founders of the draft stood grounds and justified the 25% reservation as a definite requisite to become a democratic and egalitarian society.

What is Right To Education Act?

The Right to Education Act gives the power of education to underprivileged children. According to the act, every child above the age of 6 and below the age of 14 years has the right to be educated. This education has been made mandatory for all children in India below the age of 14. It is their right according to the 86th amendment act, added article 21A. Apart from government schools providing free education to all, private schools will have to keep 25% seats reserved for the underprivileged children and give them free education.

This will not only provide quality education to such backward kids but it will also give them proper exposure of competitive world in which they have to step in, in the near future.
This act more like an attempt from the government to educate the future of the country and have better and more aspiring tomorrow. Apart from RTE, several other schemes and plans have been started by the Government of India to make sure that education reaches each and every house in the state.
