The JEE board will send the merit list of the candidates who are all secured qualifying marks in the examination to the Gujarat HSC board. The Board will consider the merit list by providing 60% weightage to HSC board exams and 40% to JEE exam.
Initially, the same formula is used for the Gujarat Common Entrance test (GUJCET). The state govt approved to join the JEE for admissions to engineering courses in the collages affiliated to the Gujarat Technological University and other deemed universities.
As per the guidelines of the Union ministry of education, it was preferable if the state gives 50% weightage while making merit list of JEE. But it had stated that the weightage to JEE should mot le less than 40%.
Vasuben Trivedi, state Minister of education, said that following representation from parents and students, it was decided to give 40% weightage to the JEE.
JEE is the common entrance exam for engineering courses admissions in IIITs, NITs, IITs and central government funded institutions. JEE Main entrance exam will be conducted on April 07, 2013. JEE is compulsory entrance exam for the candidates who are seeking admissions in engineering courses.
The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) also provides question bank to the state board HSC students who are preparing for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exams.
