Dr. SS Mantha, Chairman of AICTE, told that CMAT Entrance test would be conducted twice a year from academic year 2013-14 in order to bring more easier to the MBA aspirants.
Dr. SS Mantha said "This year, we are conducting second test in the month of September / October for the year 2013-14. The next test will be in the month of January / February. We will also increase the test centres for convenience the MBA aspirants.
The first CMAT test was held on December 4, 2011. The computer based test was held in a window of nine days from February 20 to 28, 2012. Around 70,000 candidates were registered for the test and was taken by around 60.000 candidates. On June 30, 2012, AICTE had invited reputed technical companies to bid for conducting next computer based CMAT test.
CMAT 2012 test was accepted by the 3,000 B-Schools across the country. They accepted the CMAT scores from the candidates and gave a admission to those candidates in their B-Schools for the academic year 2012-14.
Dr. SS Mantha also says, From the academic year 2013-14, CMAT test will be sub judice to the 300 PGDM institutions. While it has been clarified by the AICTE Chairman that CMAT will be held twice a year but which is yet to be decided by the Supreme court of India.
"The matter of a single test for management admissions in the country around 3,000 B-Schools, as of now, is sub judice. The matter is Pending in Supreme Court," Said Dr. SS Mantha.
