This is the second year that board exams were made optional for CBSE class 10 students. Last year, the government had initially denied admissions to students who had taken the school-based exams, but later said that they could apply offline for seats which were left vacant after the online procedure.
CBSE Chairman Vineet Joshi said "We had asked students who wanted to opt for junior college to stick to the boards". The state education department had sent a letter to CBSE officials last month informing them about the decision. "This year, we had informed the board in advance that students will have to follow the offline procedure" said the education department official.
The principals said that students were more cautious this year and choose the boards. Cherian George, who is the principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya said "Students fear they would not get admissions to a junior college, so choose the Board Examinations".
Well, the point is that, will the same issue repeat with students in this year too? Will all the students be able to make up their admissions? Or colleges will come out with only left behind vacant seats?
