India which is known as a "Union of States" is a land of wide range of cultural, geographical, regions and social diversity in itself. Each state of India has its own distinct art and culture, clothing and cuisine. This is the reason that each Indian state has its own symbols and unique identities.
Today we are going to learn about one such diversity that is known as State trees of that particular state.

Indian fig tree (Banyan), Fiscus bengalensis, whose branches take root like new trees over a large area and then these roots give rise to other branches. The specialty of this tree is that due to its longevity, this tree is considered immortal.
Mangifera indica
This tree, commonly known as mango, is a species of flowering plant in the family Anacardiaceae.
The total forest and tree cover in India is 807,276 km (80.73 million ha), which is 24.56 per cent of the total geographical area of the country. As of 2019, there has been an increase of 2261 sq km in the forest area. Madhya Pradesh has the largest forest area by area, followed by Arunachal Pradesh.
The Banyan tree is considered to be the oldest tree in the world.
Oaks is called the king of trees.
A new report released on September 1, 2021 shows that 469 (18 percent) of India's 2,603 tree species are on the verge of extinction. While India is also home to 650 endemic tree species which are not found anywhere else.
Nauru, San Marino, Qatar, Greenland and Gibraltar - while there are 12 other countries with less than one percent trees.
