The main reason for the challenge was his marriage. When you read his story, you will understand that Bapu also made many mistakes in his life, but he also learned a lot from these mistakes. Gandhi gave more importance to his character than his ability. Today we are going to read about the unheard story of Gandhi's high school days.

Wife Kasturba had different ideologies from Gandhi's
This incident happened when Gandhi was studying in high school. At that time he was married to Kasturba Bai, but at that time Gandhi's ideology was very different from that of his wife Kasturba. In such a situation, Gandhi wanted to control his wife and he would put restrictions on her. He thought that his wife should do whatever he wants, go where he wants. But the wife was of a completely different nature. The more Gandhi put restrictions on her, the more Kasturba showed independence and went wherever she wanted. But little did Gandhiji know that these painful days were going to be very educational and his efforts to bow before his wife gradually took him on the path of non-violence. Gandhiji has also mentioned in his book that his wife was the teacher who taught him the first lesson of non-violence.
Once Gandhi Misspelled a word in his Exams
It was the first year of high school, the exam time was going on and the inspector of the education department came to Bapu's class and asked all the students to write five words each. During this time Gandhi wrote the word kettle wrongly. Then the class teacher standing nearby asked him to copy the correct word from the adjacent slate but Gandhi was stubborn and was not going to agree. But there was one thing about Gandhi, he was a very punctual person. He wanted his breakfast on time, he believed that if breakfast was delayed then it would affect his studies, so he always had his breakfast on time.

Gandhiji did not remember his lessons
Gandhiji was not fond of reading books other than school books. He used to remember completely what was taught in school because his master never scolded him and he had no habit of cheating. Gandhiji himself has written that he was full of laziness, that is why he used to study less despite having 10th class exams looming on him. Because of this, the lessons he studied remained incomplete. In such a situation, there was no opportunity to study anything else. Because of this, the lessons he studied remained incomplete. Gandhi has written that he did not participate in sports activities. He gave importance to physical education in his education plan.
When Bapu got trapped in bad company
It is about the time when Gandhi's father fell ill, at that time Bapu and his wife used to spend time with his father. During this time he made a friend, whose name was Sheikh Mehtab. He started secretly eating meat and fish with his high school friend. He developed such a habit of smoking that he would even pick up the beedi thrown by his uncle and smoke it. Not only this, he also stole the money of his servants. Because of this his life started getting worse. There came a time when Mohandas got fed up with life and started thinking about suicide. In time, he assessed himself and thought it was better to quit smoking rather than commit suicide.
When Bapu stole the gold bangle
He Quit smoking, but other bad habits were still there. In his autobiography, Gandhi has shared another incident, which was the theft of a gold bangle. Actually, Gandhi had taken a loan of around Rs 25, which means in today's terms it is around Rs 80 thousand. He had to repay the debt at any cost, for which he had stolen the gold by cutting it from the gold bangle. But Gandhi's spirit made him feel like a criminal and for this he wrote a letter to his father and told the whole story. When this letter reached the father, both father and son had tears in their eyes. The father's heart melted for his son and he forgave Mohandas.
Gandhi Ji failed in high school
When Mohandas got married, he was studying in high school. Gandhiji's education also suffered due to marriage. His absences, as recorded, showed that out of 222 days during that period, he did not go to school for 148 days and failed to appear for the final examination. Failing in the examination was a big deal for Gandhiji. He gave up all his bad habits and worked hard for the next year's examination and came fourth in the class. After this examination, he made studies his best friend and later he took admission in Samaldas College, Bhavnagar for higher education. Here he left his studies midway and went to London for further studies. In London, he first learned English at University College and then studied law at the Inns of Court School of Law and later became a barrister.
