The Ramsar Convention, named after the Iranian city of Ramsar, emerged as an international treaty dedicated to the preservation of wetlands. This significant agreement was officially signed on February 2, 1971, and since then, the world has observed February 2 as World Wetlands Day. Notably, on August 30, 2021, the UN General Assembly adopted Resolution 75/317, officially designating February 2 as World Wetlands Day.

Importance of World Wetland Day
