Aryabhata, Brahmagupta, Mahavira, Bhaskara II, Srinivasa Ramanujan, and others have made significant contributions to mathematics since ancient times. Srinivasa Ramanujan showed signs of developing talent at a young age, and his contributions to fractions, infinite series, number theory, mathematical analysis, and other areas of mathematics set an example. He had learned Trignometry at the age of 12 and had generated his own theorems and concepts without the assistance of anyone. He got a copy of George Shoobridge Carr's Synopsis of Elementary Results in Pure and Applied Mathematics when he was only 15 years old.

History of National Mathematics Day

Dr. Manmohan Singh, India's former Prime Minister, paid tribute to Srinivasa Ramanujan in 2012 during a gathering commemorating the famous mathematician Srinivasa Iyengar Ramanujan's birth anniversary in Chennai.
