AP Government Shuts Educational Institutions, Last State To Do So

The Government of Andhra Pradesh has finally decided to close all the educational institutions in the state with "immediate effect" because of the COVID-19 epidemic.

The announcement was made by PV Ramesh, the additional chief secretary to Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy. He tweeted regarding the same.

CBSE Allows Face Masks And Sanitizers Inside Exam Centre

What Is Coronavirus?

Coronavirus name derived from the Latin word corona, which means crown or halo. The virus looks like a solar corona under the electron microscope. Scientists believe that the virus has emerged from an animal source. The virus was first identified in China on January 7 and named as COVID-19, which was not reported previously in humans. The health sources confirm that the virus spreads through human-to-human transmission.

• Wash your hands frequently. 
• Maintain social distancing. 
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. 
• Practice respiratory hygiene by covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze. 
• If you have fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care at the earliest.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development has released a list of Do's and Don'ts for students to protect against Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19). 

• Observe good personal hygiene. 
• Practice frequent handwashing with soap in running water. 
• Cover your mouth while sneezing and coughing.
• Throw used tissue into closed bins immediately after use. 
• See a doctor if you feel unwell.



Coronavirus: Don'ts For Students

• Have a close content with anyone, if you are experiencing cough and fever.
• Split in public.
• Contact with live animals or consumption of raw and uncooked meat. 
• Travel to farms or live animal markets where animals are slaughtered.

Coronavirus: School Advisory From Health Ministry

• Schools should avoid any large gathering in the school during the day. 
• Travel history to any COVID-19 affected country or in contact with persons in the last 28 days should be monitored and home quarantined for 14 days. 
• Class teachers should aware students with signs and symptoms of Coronavirus. 
• Inform parents not to send the child back to school till advised so by the treating doctor. 
• Teachers, school staff and students should also be advised about the public health measures of hand and respiratory hygiene such as washing hands frequently. 
• The ancillary staff or concerned persons in hostels should monitor the health status regularly of unwell students.

IIM Indore, IIM Lucknow And IIM Bangalore Convocation 2020 Postponed

Amidst the Coronavirus scare across the world, the pioneer institutes in India have considered the advisory of Health Ministry regarding the large mass gathering and postponed their convocations. IIM Bangalore convocation which scheduled on March 20 was postponed because of COVID-19. IIM Lucknow in the same case postponed the convocation scheduled on March 21, 2020. IIM Indore also postponed its annual convocation on March 24, 2020.

Schools In Bengaluru And Leh Closed

The Health Commissioner for Bengaluru has released a notice declaring the holiday for Kindergarten classes in Bangalore. Leh has also declared holidays in schools till March 31. The authorities have taken the decision to contain the spread of Coronavirus and keep students safe. The schools in Bengaluru will remain shut until further notice. The holiday declared for the upper Kindergarten or UKG and lower Kindergarten or LKG in Bengaluru. This includes nursery classes.

AMU Exams Postponed

The Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) has postponed the examinations of the distant learning courses. It has postponed the exams for students belonging to Aligarh, Kerala, Murshidabad (West Bengal), Kishangarh (Bihar) and Delhi because of the novel Coronavirus. The exams which are scheduled to begin from March 15 postponed. Around 6,000 students have enrolled for exams in four-degree courses - B.Com, M.Com, Bachelor of Library Science, BSc Computer Application. The exams will be conducted from April 1, onwards.

All Schools In Jammu Districts To Close Till March 31

Jammu District Magistrate Sushma Chauhan has issued an order to all government and private schools to close with immediate effect till March 31 due to Coronavirus.

The order reads, "COVID-19 has a pattern of transmission at a rapid rate in case prescribed preventive protocols, like avoiding mass gatherings, etc. are not strictly followed; and it is felt that children, particularly up to the Primary School level, should not be sent to schools to avoid mass gatherings."

Primary Schools In Delhi To Close Till March 31

The Delhi Government has decided to close all primary schools till March 31 as a "precautionary measure" against COVID-19. Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia shared on social media.

As a precautionary measure to prevent the possibility of spread of COVID-19 amongst our children, Delhi Government has directed immediate closure of all primary schools (Govt/ aided/ private/MCD/NDMC) till 31/3/20

Ladakh Shuts All Colleges

The Ladakh Administration has issued a notice to all colleges and universities in the Union Territory (UT) regarding COVID-19. As a precautionary measure, it has decided to close all the educational institutions in the UT.
