Children's Day has been celebrated on November 14, every year, since 1964. Children's Day always makes us nostalgic about our younger age when we had no worries other than finishing our homework for the Day. This Day is celebrated with enthusiasm across the country.

Children's Day is observed annually in every school and institution with great excitement to commemorate this naive stage of our life. To honour this Day, schools and universities conduct a variety of competitions- musical, speech, essay and dance performances, etc.
Every year on November 14, on the birth anniversary of India's first PM Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Children's Day is observed.

The First PM of Independent India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was born on November 14, 1889, and is known as "Chacha Nehru" in affection. He was well renowned for his love for children. He founded Children's Film Society India in 1955 to produce locally produced films for children.
India used to observe Children's Day on November 20 till 1964 (the United Nations observes it on this Day). However, it was chosen to honour Pandit Nehru's birthday as Children's Day following his passing in 1964. Along with being a skilled administrator, Nehru worked for the creation of some of India's most prestigious educational institutions, such as AIIMS, IIT, and IIM were all founded as a result of his vision. Pandit Nehru has left behind a legacy of education for the children of India. Hence, this Day is celebrated as Children's Day.
