The admission to the postgraduate engineering courses such as Masters in Technology (M.Tech) and Masters in Engineering (M.E) will be based on entrance examinations.

Annually, admission to the postgraduate engineering courses commences in the month of May after the application process in March. However, the dates vary from one institute to another. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is one of the top entrance examinations in the country conducted for admission to IITs and IISc. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) stands as one of the toughest academic entrance examinations in the country. Annually, the application process starts in the month of September and the exam will take place in February. The exam is held for admission to M.Tech courses in the IITs, ISM Dhanbad and IISc Bangalore. It is conducted jointly by the IISc and IITs. Know more about the GATE entrance examination here.

Birla Institute of Technology & Science Higher Degree Exam (BITS HD)

The entrance exam is conducted for admission to M.Tech or M.E offered by the BITS. The admission will be conducted for BITS campuses - Pilani, Hyderabad and Goa. The eligibility criteria vary from one to another course. The exam pattern of BITS HD consists of two parts.

VIT Master’s Entrance Examination (VITMEE)

Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) University conducts the VITMEE for admissions to the M.Tech and other postgraduate programmes offered at the campuses in Vellore and Chennai. The VITMEE exam pattern consists of 100 questions and the duration of the test is two hours. Candidates who have passed their B.E/B.Tech in the relevant discipline with a minimum of
50% marks are only eligible to apply.

SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Examination (PG) SRMJEEE

SRM University conducts the SRMJEEE (PG) for admission to Master's courses in engineering. The candidates who have passed B.E/B. Tech with a minimum of 60% in aggregate can apply for the post. The selection will be based on the online exam. The duration of the exam is 150 minutes. The questions will be set at the corresponding degree level.

GITAM GAT PGTA

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM) University conducts the GAT (PGTA) for admission to M.Tech programmes. Upon qualifying in this online admission test, it will enable the candidates to take the admission in the GITAM campuses in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. The duration of the assessment test is two hours and consists of three sections. The total number of questions in GAT (PGTA) is 100.
