75 Years of Independence: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to End in August with 'Meri Mati Mera Desh' Programme

With the Meri Mati Mera Desh program, the 75th anniversary Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations will come to a close. During the most recent episode of his Mann Ki Baat broadcast, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made an announcement regarding Meri Mati Mera Desh, a program to honor the valiant freedom fighters and brave women who took part in the freedom movement.

About Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav's main goal is to instill a sense of patriotism among all citizens. Each department creates a unique program that aids in giving the nation a patriotic hue. It is beneficial to celebrate and remember India's 75 years of independence as well as the illustrious history of the liberation movement, its participants, and its accomplishments.

75 Years of Independence: Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav

The festival contains a series of activities that reflect the encouragement of freedom fighters, reflecting the need to understand history deeply, and the country will gain fresh strength for future development. The nation will also recall all the major moments in the history of the liberation movement. On March 12, 2021, Ahmedabad, Gujarat's capital and largest city, hosted the official opening of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

On the same day, the PM signaled the beginning of a 21-day Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram. In the cities that served as significant hubs of the struggle for liberation, this festival was first held. Jallianwala Bagh in Punjab, Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Cellular Jail in Andaman and Nicobar Island, etc. are a few of the well-known centers. The Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav will conclude with a celebration on the following Independence Day, which falls on August 15, 2023.

Meri Mati Mera Desh program

Apruva Chandra, the information and broadcasting secretary, gave a press conference in New Delhi and announced that the program would begin on August 9 and run through the 30th. He stated that more than two lakh activities had been held nationwide as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, which began in Gujarat in 2021.

According to Culture Secretary Govind Mohan, the program includes raising the flag and singing the national anthem while dedicating Shilaphalakam, the Panch Pran Pledge, Vasudha Vandan, and honoring the martyrs. According to him, the Amrit Kalash Yatra will bring soil in urns from every region of the nation, including villages, blocks, towns, and cities, to New Delhi. In the national capital of Delhi, an Amrit Vatika will be constructed using dirt and vegetation from all sections of the nation, giving the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat a fresh boost. The Main event will take place at New Delhi's Kartavya Path at the end of this month, according to the Culture Secretary.

He stated that as part of the campaign, numerous programs will be held in villages, gram panchayats, blocks, and local urban bodies. According to Mr. Mohan, the Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan will be observed from August 13 to August 15 with the same fervor and passion as the previous year.

According to Meeta Rajivlochan, secretary of youth affairs, a portal called merimaatimeradesh.gov.in has also been developed to ensure widespread involvement in this campaign. She stated that the website yuva.gov.in contains details on numerous initiatives relating to the Meri Mati Mera Desh campaign.

According to Prasar Bharati CEO Gaurav Dwivedi, Doordarshan and Akashvani will cover the nationwide Meri Maati Mera Desh program.
