China requests India to resume Direct flights between India and China
Zha Liyou - Chinese Consul General in Kolkata - said that the flight services between the two neighbours must resume now. Just so you know, the services have been disrupted ever since the outbreak of Covid-19 in Wuhan in late 2019. The flight disruption is particularly problematic for hundreds of Indian students and other professionals who study/work in China. though Beijing recently lifted the visa ban after about three years. As per one estimate, some 23,000 Indian students - mostly pursuing MBBS - study in China. Indian passengers are currently travelling to China through Sri Lanka, Nepal and Myanmar, shelling out exorbitant flight fares.
Benjamin Netanyahu, Bibi, to return to power in Israel
Israel General Election 2022 - which took place on the 1st of November - is the 5th election in the last 4 years. The election had to be announced and the assembly dissolved after the outgoing PM Naftali Bennett and alternate PM Yair Lapid lost the majority in the Israeli Parliament also known as Knesset. With over 90 per cent of votes counted, Benjamin Netanyahu's coalition leads in 65 seats out of a total of 120. If there is no drastic change in fortune in the remaining counting, he is almost certain to be the next PM of Israel. Again. Netanyahu - the country’s longest-serving PM in history - is grappling with charges of bribery, fraud and breach of trust.
