The portrait of Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Pratap Jena were put into fire by students and activists on Thursday, protesting the leak of state board Class 10 (HSC) examination results several hours before they were actually declared.
While members of the opposition Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party and left parties staged separate protest demonstrations in the state capital Bhubaneshwar. Also activists of the All India Democratic Students Organization (AIDSO) including the activists in the state capital had set fire to an portrait of the minister at Cuttack.
The State Board of Secondary Education (BSE) was scheduled to declare the results at 9.AM on Thursday. The names of the top 110 students were, however found posted on Social networking site "Facebook" on Wednesday night itself.
The minister in-fact had asked the Board to investigate and submit a report. He told the media persons that all appropriate steps would be taken in this matter.
