What is apparent is that India's best universities are run by the Government. What is emerging is that India's smartest universities are in the private sector. What is unfortunate us that even the combined might of the two is not enough to meet the aspirations of millions of students.

Research was conducted top draw up a list of 170 universities eligible for the survey.

The parameters for which each university is judged were then drawn up after consultation with academics and experts from across India.

The parameters include university reputation, quality of academic input, faculty, research strengths, student care, infrastructure, innovation, admission procedure, placement record.
