After a BA in English Literature, you can start as a reporter or a content writer, and with experience, you can move up the positions of assistant-editor, sub-editor and so on.

Now you do not have to get a BA in English Literature to be a writer. But a student of English literature will have to take up texts from various eras and cultures.
