According to B.C.Bhartia, president of All India Traders (CAIT), about 70 lakh weddings will be solemnised throughout the nation from January 15 to the end of June month. This will generate a significant economic flow of about 13 lakh crores of rupees through wedding-related purchases and the use of various wedding-related services by the public.

"Extensive preparations have been made in light of the wedding season's promising economic prospects in an effort to build on the positive sentiments generated by the season's recent record sales", he added.

Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General CAIT, informed that in this six month long marriage season which is having 53 auspicious days for marriage, about 10 lakh weddings will have an estimated expenditure of Rs 3 lakh per wedding, while in about 10 lakh weddings the cost per wedding will be around 5 lakh , 15 lakh weddings will cost 10 lakhs per marriage, 10 lakh wedding with an expenditure of Rs.15 lakh, 10 lakhs marriages will cost 25 lakhs per marriage, 10 lakh wedding costing Rs.35 lakh per wedding, 3 lakh marriages will have 50 lakhs expenditure per wedding and 2 lakh marriages with an expense of 1 crore or more amount.

Praveen Khandelwal added that before the wedding season, a large amount of business happens in the repair of houses and paint of the houses .Apart from this, jewellery, sarees, lehenga-choli, furniture, readymade garments, clothes, footwear, wedding and greeting cards. dry fruits, sweets, fruits, worship items, grocery, food grains, decoration items, home decoration items, electrical utility, electronics and many gift items etc are usually in demand and it is expected to do good business this year.
