UPSC ESE 2027: Only Days Left to Apply – Don't Miss the October 6 Deadline

UPSC will close Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2027 applications on October 6, 2026, 6 pm. With four days left, finish One Time Registration (OTR), uploads and payment today. UPSC’s exam page lists a hard cut-off at 6 pm. “The Online Applications can be filled from 16.09.2026 to 06.10.2026 till 06:00 P.M. after which the link will be disabled.”

Complete account creation, Universal Registration, Common Application and the exam‑specific form. You receive a Universal Registration Number (URN) for life, plus an application number. UPSC ESE 2027 eligibility and key dates

Candidates must be 21 to 30 years on January 1, 2027. Birth dates should fall between January 2, 1997, and January 1, 2006. Prelims is scheduled on January 31, 2027; Mains on June 18, 2027. UPSC indicates about 480 vacancies across four disciplines.

OTR checklist, photo and signature specs

Keep your matriculation certificate handy; names must match the form. Photograph and signature must be JPG or JPEG, 20–300 KB each. Show three‑fourths face, avoid glare, and check the preview before confirming. Photo ID must be a PDF between 50–300 KB.

Category/EWS/OBC‑NCL certificates and age relaxation

Claim reservation or age relaxation only with prescribed certificates. Economically Weaker Section (EWS) must be based on FY 2025–26, issued after April 1, 2026. Other Backward Classes‑Non Creamy Layer (OBC‑NCL) needs FY 2023–24, 2024–25, 2025–26, issued after April 1, 2026. All must be dated by October 6, 2026; category changes are disallowed.

Fees, exemptions and safe payment window

Application fee is Rs 200 for non‑exempt candidates. Women, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) are exempt. Pay via netbanking of any bank, Visa, MasterCard, RuPay, debit card or Unified Payments Interface (UPI). Do not wait for peak hours or the last day, the FAQ advises.

Exam path and what to revise this week

Stage I features a 200‑mark Paper I and a 300‑mark Paper II. Stage II has two conventional papers totalling 600 marks; the interview adds 200. This week, tighten Engineering Aptitude, key standards, and past papers. Practise timed OMR with a black ball pen. Submit the form and payment before 6 pm on October 6.
