UPSC CSE 2021: After 5 Failed Attempts, UPSC Aspirant Clears Civil Services, Share Tips For Success

Abhijeet Yadav talked about enjoying the process and not getting too stressed in the third lesson. This will make studying easier and will reduce the worry in case of failure. One needs to stay grounded always.

After attempting UPSC for five years, Abhijeet Yadav got success in the Civil Services Exam 2017 and received 653rd rank. For those preparing for the UPSC civil services exam amid the pandemic, Yadav has summed up his five-year journey of preparation and the lessons he's learnt along the way.

After 5 Failed Attempts, Aspirant Clears UPSC

In a Twitter thread, he described how he prepared for one of the most difficult examinations. Abhijeet, like many other aspirants, failed to pass the UPSC CSE prelims in his first two attempts. With grit and persistence, he persevered and cleared the prelims in his third attempt, but failed to pass the mains. In his fourth attempt, he appeared for mains but was unsuccessful.

Get Used To Failure

While this may have demoralised any aspirant, Yadav learned his first lesson from it. The first lesson, he explained, was to get used to failure while also learning to pick oneself up. 'Statistically, the majority of those who take this exam will fail. But at the same time, you will comprehend the meaning of hard effort. You'll learn to have tenacity and perseverance. You will learn to pull yourself up after failures,' he wrote.

Maintain Your Health

The second lesson was that long-term success requires physical, mental, and emotional well-being. 'Pay attention to your health. Your mental and emotional well-being are determined by your physical health. As a result, your output while studying for UPSC or any other endeavour, in general, is determined by these factors. "Invest in your health in order to achieve long-term success.'

Don't Be Too Hard On Yourself

He talked about enjoying the process and not getting too stressed in the third lesson. 'Don't be too hard on yourself. Learn to enjoy the process rather than focusing solely on the end result. This will make it easier for you to study and will reduce your worry in case of failure. Plus, if you are chosen, your head will not blow up like a balloon. Stay grounded.'

Abilities Developed During Preparation Benefits You

He further tweeted that the abilities developed during UPSC CSE preparation benefit students regardless of whether or not they pass the exams. Patience, grit, a desire to learn, and a goal to make a great difference in the world are all developed through preparation.

Appreciate Your Own Growth

'UPSC preparation is a crash course in how to deal with life in general. It educates you about the role of chance in life's endeavours, as well as the importance of big dreams being followed by big actions. Don't trust people blindly as most individuals are all talk and no action,' Yadav advised.

"You may be punched on the face (metaphorically) while watching someone else thrive without a scratch. Don't compare yourself to others; everyone is on their own path. The only comparison that matters is with yourself in the past. It's difficult to live up to everyone's expectations, simply live up to your own expectations," he said.

These tips will undoubtedly stimulate students as the UPSC CSE 2021 exam approaches. While Abhijeet aspired to join the services, his subsequent failure taught him a lot about life. He is now developing the 'Pensil' platform, which will assist independent educators in teaching online.
