Pharmacists are an integral part of the medical industry and receive the highest degree of respect in the health sector only after doctors. In order to become a pharmacist, one has to pursue the courses such as Diploma in Pharmacy (D Pharm) and Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm). Many educational institutions in the country offer pharmacy courses. To get admission to these courses, one has to qualify in the respective entrance examinations. Here are the top state-level pharmacy entrance examinations in the country for admission to pharmacy programmes.

State-level Pharmacy Entrance Exams

Maharashtra Health and Technical Common Entrance Test (MHT CET)

The entrance exam is conducted by DTE for admission to various colleges in Maharashtra. Qualifying in this exam will enable the candidates to take up courses such as B.Tech and B.Pharm. The exam will be conducted in an online mode.
Exam date: May 7, 2020 (tentative)
Application process: January to March 2020 (tentative)

West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam (WBJEE)

This is a common entrance exam conducted for admission to undergraduate courses in pharmacy and engineering in West Bengal. Candidates who qualify in the entrance exam will get admission at institutions in the state.
Exam date: April 21, 2020 (tentative)
Application process: December 2019 to March 2020 (tentative)

Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE)

The UPSEE is conducted by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University. The entrance exam is conducted for admission to Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) along with courses such as B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Des.

Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET)

The entrance test is conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) for admission to a range of engineering and B. Pharm courses in the participating institutes in Karnataka state. The admission will be done based on the merit list.
Exam date: April, 2020 (tentative)
Application process: February to March 2020 (tentative)


The Andhra Pradesh Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (AP EAMCET) is conducted by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Kakinada for admission to B.Tech/B.Sc/B.Pharm courses. Candidates who qualify in the three-hour entrance exam will only get admission.
