Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti has announced the admission test for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST). Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya is an autonomous organisation established under the Human Resource Development Ministry. The Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) is conducted every year for admission to Class 6.
JNV is fully residential and affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). It covers the standards between class 6 and class 12. The objective of the scheme is to provide good quality modern education, including a strong component of culture, inculcation of values, awareness of the environment, adventure activities and physical education to the talented children predominantly from rural areas. JNV Selection Test for admission to Class 6 in schools for the academic session 2020-21 will be held on January 11 and April 11, 2020.
JNVST Eligibility
Students studying in class 5 in a government/government recognised school in a district are eligible to apply for the JNV located in the same district. One who is seeking admission must not have been born before 01-05-2006 and after 30-04-2010 (both days are inclusive). However, a candidate who has not been promoted and admitted to class 5 before September 15, 2018, is not eligible to apply.
JNVST Application
The eligible candidates have to submit the online application for JNV Selection Test. The registration can be done free of cost through the admission portal of NVS linked through www.navodaya.gov.in. However, verification of proofs such as residence and age will be done after the declaration of results.
JNVST Admit Card
The admit card for the exam will be available from December 1, 2019, on the application portal. It can be downloaded free of cost by the candidates/parents before the conduct of JNVST 2020.
JNVST Result 2020
Candidates who appeared for the exam held in January and April. One can access the result on the official website. Students can check their results on Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, District Education Officer, District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner (Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti of the Region) and the official website of JNV.
JNVST Exam Pattern
The duration of the test will be of two-hours from 11:30 am to 01:30 pm. It consists of three sections namely mental ability test, arithmetic test and language test. A total of 80 questions will be there for 100 marks. The starting 15 minutes is allowed for reading the instructions.

According to the sources, in every district, there is a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. At present, 661
Vidyalayas are sanctioned in 28 States and 07 Union Territories, out of which 629 are functioning.
