One of the largest international education organizations, Institute of International Education (IIE), has released its annual Open Doors Report 2020. IIE releases the Open Doors Report as part of International Education Week (IEW). The Open Doors Report 2020 includes detailed information and data about post-secondary student flows into and out of the USA during the previous academic year.

According to the Open Doors Report 2020, the total number of international students in the United States of America declined by 1.8% to 1,075,496 students. 53 per cent of international students in the USA come from China and India.
A total of 1,93,124 Indian students came to the USA to pursue their education in 2019-20 against 2,02,014 in 2018-19. There was a 4.4 per cent drop in the total number of Indian students. The official sources suggest that Indian students contributed USD 7.6 Billion to the United States economy.
