China has informed that foreign students in China cannot enter the country for the time being due to the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19) pandemic. It has asked Indian students to maintain close contact with their relevant Chinese colleges and universities and follow each instruction issued by the institutions to protect their academic progress. Earlier, the Embassy of India in Beijing has raised the issue with the concern Chinese authorities regarding the return of Indian students studying in China for their return to their Colleges/Universities.

The Chinese Ministry of Education has informed Embassy of India, "At present, foreign students in China cannot enter the country for the time being, but the Chinese Govt attaches great importance to the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of foreign students in China.
It added, "It requires relevant Universities in China to maintain close contacts with the students, immediately notify relevant information and try their best to protect students' academic progress through online courses, properly respond to students' reasonable demands and help solve their practical difficulties."
It concluded, "In view of the fact that the epidemic situation in the world is still unclear and relevant policies on entry and exit in China are being gradually adjusted, it is suggested that Indian students should maintain close contact with relevant Chinese Colleges and Universities and arrange to study in China in strict accordance with the suggestions and guidance of the Colleges/Universities"
According to the reports, over 23,000 Indian students enrolled for various courses in Chinese universities and colleges. Out of which more than over 21,000 students enrolled to study MBBS.
Indian students are advised to keep visiting the official website of the Indian Embassy/Consulates in China to remain updated regarding the return of foreign students to China.
