The University of Sheffield in the UK has introduced the Computer Science Excellence Scholarship 2024 for international students. This scholarship is aimed at those seeking undergraduate admission in the Department of Computer Science and offers up to £2,000 based on academic performance.

Students with A*A*A* marks, including an A* in mathematics, will receive £2,000. Those with A*A*A marks, also including an A* in mathematics, will be awarded £1,000. The scholarship is automatically granted to eligible students upon starting their studies in September 2024.
Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship
To qualify for this scholarship, students must meet several criteria. They need to secure scores equivalent to or above A*A*A, with an A* in mathematics being mandatory. Additionally, they must choose the University of Sheffield as their first preference in the UCAS 2024 application process and apply for full-time undergraduate programmes in the computer science department.
Only students classified as overseas for tuition fee purposes are eligible. They must also be enrolled in all prerequisite subjects of their course. However, students participating in compulsory or optional study abroad periods will not receive stipends during that time.
Scholarship Amount Conditions
The scholarship amounts are determined by academic performance. Students achieving an overall A*A*A* in class 12, including an A* in mathematics, will receive a £2,000 scholarship. Those with a total score of A*A*A or above, also including an A* in mathematics, will be awarded £1,000.
Students enrolled in university pathway programmes are not eligible for this scholarship. If a student receives another scholarship from a different institution besides the University of Sheffield, the combined amount should ensure that the candidate is not fully funded for tuition fees.
Equivalent Marks for Indian Students
Indian students can contact the undergraduate admission team at [email protected] to confirm equivalent marks for A*A*A* and A*A*A grades from various boards. According to the official website, for CBSE, CISCE and Maharashtra State Board students, A*AA is equivalent to 90 per cent. For West Bengal Board students, it is also equal to 90 per cent while other state boards require 91 per cent to be considered equivalent to A*AA.
After admission, students securing at least 70 per cent will automatically receive a £1,000 stipend each subsequent academic year starting from October 2024.
