Tata Institute of Fundamental Research Offers Fellowships for Ph.D

Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai has invited Applications for Ph.D Fellowships 2016.

Scholarships are offered to students who are pursuing their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) and integrated Ph.D (I-Ph.D) in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology programmes for the year 2016.

Scholarship Details:

Ph.D Programmes: Students will be offered a monthly scholarship of Rs 25,000/- (enhanced to Rs 18,000/- after registration)

Integrated Ph.D Programmes: Students will offered a monthly scholarship of Rs 16,000/- for the first year. At the end of the first year (based on the student's performance) the fellowship is enhanced to Rs 25,000/- per month (further raised to Rs 28,000/- after registration for Ph.D)

Eligibility Criteria:

Ph.D Mathematics Programme: Candidates should have M.A./M.Sc./M.Tech degree.

Integrated Ph.D Mathematics Programme: B.A./B.Sc./B.E./B.Tech. (Students already /completing an M.Sc. degree by July 2016 are not eligible).

Ph.D Physics Programme: Candidates should have M.Sc./M.S. in Physics, or equivalent, on completion of programme of duration not less than 5 years in total.

Integrated Ph.D Physics Programme: Candidates should have completed M.E./M.Tech./B.Sc./B.S./B.E./B.Tech./B.Chem. in Physics, Engineering Physics, or its equivalent degree, on completion of programme (s) of duration not less than 3 years in total

Any other degree in Science / Engineering/ Medicine, or equivalent, on completion of programme (s) of duration not less than 3 years in total.

In addition, integrated Ph.D Physics candidates with 4 or more years of university education who clear the written test may be considered by TCIS for their Ph.D programme

• Students from remote areas who do not have access to internet can apply manually.
• Request can also be sent for application form (without DD) along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs 20/-) envelope (size 25cm x 17cm) superscribed "GS-2016 (Subject)" to: For Biology: Admissions Section National Centre for Biological Sciences UAS-GKVK Campus, Bellary Road, Bangalore 560065.
