There are various types of scholarships offered by the government of India to encourage young and talented students. One such Scholarship scheme launched by the government is 'Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana.' Under this scheme, the students are given two different scholarships of Rs. 5000 and Rs. 7000 per month. The students must apply for the scholarship program to take advantage of this scheme.

Scholarship Selection Process

The scheme was started by the Department of Science and Technology in the year 1999. The main objective of this scheme is to bring out the hidden talent in the field of science across the country so that the future of the country, as well as the future of the students, can be improved.

A high-level entrance examination is conducted under this scheme for the selection of students at the national level. The exam is conducted in two steps. The first phase consists of an online aptitude test and the second phase consists of an interview.

Eligibility For Scholarship

For participating in KVPY fellowship examinations, the students are required to pass Class 10th with at least 75% marks in Science and Mathematics. Besides, 10 percent relaxation is given to students belonging to scheduled castes, tribes, and other backward classes. At the same time, first-year undergraduate students are required to get 60% marks in class 12th. For students of SC, ST, and OBC categories it is necessary to bring 50% marks with a relaxation of 10 percent.

The students are eligible for a fellowship and admissions into institutes such as IISc and IISER on the basis of additional criteria once they get qualified in the KVPY Exam. The students can visit the scheme website for more information.
