Deakin University Introduces Scholarships for Indian Students

Deakin University in Australia has launched the Vice-Chancellor's Meritorious Scholarship Programme (VSMSP) 2024 specifically for Indian students seeking undergraduate and postgraduate studies. This initiative aims to recognize and support outstanding academic achievers from India, offering a total of 10 full-fee scholarships valued at over Rs 60 lakh each. One of these scholarships will be specifically designated for sports studies.

Part of the university's 'Changing Lives' initiative, the VSMSP 2024 seeks to empower Indian students with exceptional academic records and the potential to contribute significantly on a global scale. Deakin University emphasized, "Every year, the programme rewards Indian students with consistently high academic performance and the potential to make a lasting impact globally with the opportunity to study in Australia at Deakin University."

Selection Process

Candidates interested in applying for these scholarships can do so through the official Deakin University website. The selection process will be conducted by the Deakin South Asia office in New Delhi. It involves a thorough assessment including application reviews, referee recommendations, online interviews, and in-person panel interviews with representatives from academia and industry.

Eligibility Criteria

For Undergraduate Courses:

• Must be a resident of India.
• Year 12 students can submit predicted scores, but final selection will depend on actual results.
• Must meet English language proficiency requirements.
• Demonstrated significant achievements in co-curricular activities.

For Postgraduate Courses:

• Must reside in India.
• Requires 85% or above in Year 12 scores from CBSE/ICSE/State Board or 80% or above in an undergraduate degree.
• Must meet English language proficiency requirements.
• Must have significant achievements in co-curricular activities.
