The Hungarian government has invited applications for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme in order to increase the intake of foreign students into Hungarian Universities. The programme was launched in 2013.
Program Objective
The aim of this programme is to attract top foreign students to study in their institutions through the Hungarian higher education institutions.
Organisers
Managed by Tempus Public Foundation, the programme is based on bilateral educational cooperation agreements signed between the Ministries responsible for education in the sending countries/territories and Hungary or between institutions.

Description
The scholarship is given to students for partial and full-time studies in different universities of Hungary in different languages as set by the chosen institution.
Eligibility criteria
Students must have passed any one of the following:
Class 12 pass/undergraduates/postgraduates/MPhil/ PhD/postdoctoral students.

Benefits
Tuition fee, monthly stipend of HUF 40 460 to 180 000 (Depending on the course), accommodation and medical insurance.
Those candidates who procure the scholarship will get the following benefits:
Exemption of Tuition fee
Students can avail a total discount of the tuition fees
Accommodation
The university will grant the stidents a dormitory place or contribute a sum of HUF 40,000 to accommodation costs for the whole duration of the scholarship period
Medical insurance
The government will provide health care services according to the relevant Hungarian legislation (Act No. 80 of 1997, national health insurance card) and supplementary medical insurance for up to HUF 65 000 (cca EUR 205) a year/person.
