Online course on designing the headlines

Scientific discoveries and developments often make headlines, and in this online discussion group the candidate will explore five topical articles drawn from recent physical sciences and technology journalism.

The course will dig more deeply into the underlying scientific concepts, and in the process it will inform the candidate's thinking about where each of these developments might be leading in the future.

The candidate will be able to study ‘anytime, anywhere' and contribute to ongoing lively discussion and debate with the fellow students and the tutor, throughout. Active participation in the seminar group is expected and encouraged.

About the tutor:

Dr Erica Bithell, is an Institute Teaching Officer in Physical Sciences, and an Adjunct Research Fellow in the Department of Materials Science and Metallurgy at Cambridge. She teaches at both undergraduate and graduate level, and her main research interests are in electron microscopy and crystallography, in particular the relationship between the atomic scale structure and the properties of functional materials.
