IIT Kgp invites applications for its Faculty Development programme

IIT Kharagpur invites applications for its short term course on 'Faculty Development programme for Effective Teaching' for the academic year 2014. This programme is organised by Centre For Educational Technology of IIT Kgp. Candidates can apply online by logging on to the official website of IIT Kgp.

21st Century Challenge in education is to ensure that at the end of 'a four year' programme of study, graduates need to demonstrate the mastery of not only a well chosen set of domain specific learning objectives, but also a set of domain independent learning outcomes. This is required to make engineering education system more learner-centric and ensure mastery over not only domain knowledge but also over the knowledge, skills and attitudes like the following:

• UG engineering students need to take considerably more responsibility for their own learning than is the case at present.
• Learning to learn, communication skills, working in groups are to be important learning outcomes in addition to domain specific knowledge.
• Within limits, learners are to be allowed to follow their own pace, learning styles so that individual differences are largely taken care of.
• Allow continuous improvement in curricular, incorporation of better open educational resource, more effective teaching -learning strategies, as teachers, students, experts, users continue to give valuable inputs through course websites.

Registration fee:

Registration fee for each participant is Rs. 6000/-. This cost is inclusive of the resource materials of the course as well as lunch, tea and snacks which will be provided on all three days. Registration fees should be paid through demand draft drawn in favour of "CEP-STE", payable at "Kharagpur", India.

For batch I: 15th to 17th May, 2014
For batch II: 10th-12th july, 2014
